Children’s Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota and Abbott Northwestern Hospital are experts at welcoming new life into the community, and today we are thrilled to open the doors to our partnership: The Mother Baby Center!
Nestled between Abbott Northwestern and Children’s Minneapolis campus with a skyway that connects the two, The Mother Baby Center is a new four-story, 96,000-square-foot state-of-the-art facility with capacity for 5,000 births each year. The Center offers a comprehensive approach to care, beginning at prenatal and continuing through obstetrics, perinatology, labor and delivery, neonatology and pediatrics. Our collective goal is to ensure all mothers and babies have excellent quality of care, access to enhanced fetal therapies and maternal-fetal care, faster transportation, reduced costs and benefit from ground breaking research.
As Minnesota’s first birth center of this kind, the Center has its own entrance at Chicago Avenue and 26th Street in Minneapolis, plus 13 labor and delivery rooms, larger patient rooms, larger operating rooms for births of multiples and an additional hybrid operating room to accommodate fetal surgeries. It also supplies a dedicated room for water births.
The Mother Baby Center is devoted to keeping you and your new bundle of joy safe, happy and informed. We’ve launched this blog, Great Beginnings, to educate and update expecting mothers and the broader community about maternal/fetal health issues and other related topics. We’ll be posting about new techniques and technology, mother and baby nutrition, fitness and health tips, patient stories, research and case studies on child birth as well as sharing expert advice about breaking news and events, such as this year’s influenza season.
What do you want to learn from the blog? How can The Mother Baby Center help you and your new family? Share questions, comments and suggestions on our Twitter, Facebook and Pinterest pages. Look forward to hearing your thoughts and thanks for joining us on this special day!
