Your recovery from childbirth involves helping your body heal. During your stay at The Mother Baby Center, your care team will make sure you are healing properly.
If you had a vaginal birth, you may have had an episiotomy or tear that was repaired with stitches. These stitches are absorbable, so they don't have to be taken out. After the repair, your nurse may put an ice pack on your perineum, the area around your vagina. This will help reduce swelling and provide relief.

Recovery from a Cesarean birth will take longer than a vaginal birth. Along with being a new mother, you are recovering from major surgery. It's normal for your incision to itch or feel numb or prickly when you touch it. These sensations can last for months.
